The Radio Times commission an Olympic Stadium cake design for a photo shoot with baking gurus Mary Berry & Paul Hollywood. They are featured in the magazine spread cutting into the cake. Reviews from the photo shoot were that the Olympic Stadium tasted delicious!

Lakeland commission Rachel to design an elaborate cake sculpture inspired by Summer 2012. The huge cake installation was displayed under perspex throughout the summer at their wonderful shop in the Stratford Westfield Centre next to the Olympic Park. Rachel hopes her cake inspired customers to push their cake decoration ideas beyond cupcakes into the realm of fantastical cake artistry.

Rachel had the huge honour of being commissioned by The London School of Economics to create a birthday cake for them to present to Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi on her historic trip to London.

Sotheby's, Bond Street London - Art Curator Janice Blackburn commissioned a cake sculpture for Sotheby's 'Inspired By India' exhibition of Indian craft. The large elaborate design 'The Lemon Thief' featured an Indian Maharajah on a bejeweled throne. It should have been cut and devoured at the private view party but Janice liked the cake so much she put it on display as part of the exhibition, the sugar Maharajah was delighted!

Rachel's first teaching project for 2012 will be at Kensington Palace who have invited her to lead a masterclass for beginners. Sugar craft projects will be inspired by their new exhibition about Queen Victoria, students will learn key techniques before decorating their own cake to take home.

Paris, France — January 2012

Rachel began 2012 with an exciting road trip to the heart of Paris delivering a cake to Boutique Guerlain along the Champ Elysee. The most famous perfumier in Paris commissioned a cake sculpture to be displayed as a centerpiece at a select VIP dinner held at their exquisite and historic Art Deco boutique. The dinner was held to celebrate their new perfume 'Le Petite Robe Noire'. Rachel worked very closely with the Guerlain team over many months as she designed an elegant and elaborate cake inspired by their stunning perfume launch concepts.

This winter Rachel returns to the V&A to lead a 6 week term of sugar craft evening classes as part of the Power Of Making season. Her favourite V&A galleries will inspire weekly projects and in the final two classes students will design and decorate their own unique Christmas cake. Sold Out

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber commissioned Rachel to create a very large and special cake to celebrate the centenary of The London Palladium. The design was inspired by the architecture of the theatre and featured show posters through the ages and high kicking Tiller Girls. It was the centrepiece at their glittering party where a plaque was unveiled to mark this important historic moment in London theatre. November 5th 2008, Her Majesty The Queen opened the dramatic new Osborne-built Academic Building at the London School of Economics and Political Science . Rachel was commissioned to design a cake as a centrepiece for the opening celebrations.

9th July 2008, the Hayward Gallery celebrated their 40th anniversary in great style. Director Ralph Rugoff commissioned Rachel to make a Hayward inspired cake sculpture for their fabulous party. The 3ft wide and 5ft tall centrepiece made a grand art performance entrance, it was wheeled into the party with candles burning behind a group of musicians and Southbank chief executive Michael Lynch attacked the cake with a big cake knife!

19th May 2008, Rachel designs a cake for Harold Pinter & the 50th anniversary of The Birthday Party. The Lyric Hammersmith celebrated the anniversary of Harold Pinter’s first London stage production in glittering style with a gala evening. They commissioned Rachel to design a large party centrepiece, the elaborate cake was auctioned off by party guest Timothy West.

Spanish Vogue commissioned Rachel to design a cake to celebrate their 20th Anniversary. She produced a design collection of six sketched ideas for Vogue to choose from, they chose ‘The Golden Spiral Of Couture’. This elaborate cake is featured as a full page photo spread in their celebratory May 2008 issue, alongside a full page editorial feature on Rachel and her work.

Renowned art curator Janice Blackburn presents ‘Small Show Huge Talent’, January 17- 27th Notting Hill. The mixed media show will exhibit the work of eleven international artists including Rachel. She has been busy creating two new ambitious cake sculptures.
